| Performance Technologies, Inc. - IS Manager |
| Time: July 2005 - Present |
|
Work Type: I currently am employed at Performance Technologies,
Inc. as a IS Manager. In my current role, I am responsible for all
aspects of IS operations, including the management of IS staff at
corporate headquarters as well as remote offices. I also coordinate
many operations and projects that are implemented across the entire
enterprise, which has multiple sites across the US, Canada, and
UK. I am also involved with strategic planning for the IT organization,
and work on many business-driven projects. PTI is a great, high-tech
environment - for more information, visit http://www.pt.com.
The other main responsibility of mine at PTI is to ensure IT's
compliance to section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley act. PTI has a market
cap over $80M, so they are subject to accelerated filer rules, and
had to be compliant since 2004. For SOX, I work with control frameworks
such as COSO and COBIT to implement controls to ensure reliable
financial reporting. I interface with auditors, consult with the
business, and do anything that is required to make the SOX compliance
effort go as smoothly as possible. SOX compliance is a skill that
I have been involved with since the act came to be, and I enjoy
the challenges associated with such a broad initiative. At PTI,
I have coordinated two years of successful SOX compliance in IT.
Several projects that I managed at PTI include implementation of
an Avaya VoIP phone system that spans all of the North American
PTI sites. I also am working on projects ranging from Storage Management
to Unified Login and WAN Infrastructure upgrades using Cisco equipment.
Along with IS Manager responsibilities, I also get pretty deep into
the technical implementation, doing most of the work on any projects
involving the networks. I also travel across the country on accession
to complete various project tasks and training that must be coordinated
in person.

April 2002] |
|

Laboratory
Contracted to Excellus (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rochester, Syracuse,
Utica/Watertown, and Univera Healthcare) |
| Time : June 2002 - Aug 2002 |
|
Work Type: This is an applied research job in which I was
hired by the RIT CAST Laboratory and contracted out to Excellus
Healthcare as a Workflow Analyst. The work is varied. The start
of this project involved working on documentation of various systems
that are at work in the dynamic healthcare company. This meant working
closely with the e-commerce group to provide an end to end flow
of data and work in order to provide greater quality of service
and economies of scale resulting from multiple mergers and acquisitions.
I relied very heavily on my theoretical computing knowledge in order
to grasp, understand, and write about the complex systems in place
at Excellus.
After the documentation project, I was in charge of the design,
implementation, and training / follow through of a new Source Code
Control system for Application Developers at Excellus. This was
a more technical position, but certainly required a lot of skill
to help the employees adopt the technology.
The final part of the job, and that part that had me retained as
a contractor, was process analysis for certain business operations.
I was charged with several business processes in which I researched
the activity and provided business implementation diagrams along
with written suggestions and proposals for improving the processes
from both an efficiency and quality control prospective.
